Sinopse
Adam Sagittarius is an intensely private man running from life. To that end he works at a solitary career as a book illustrator living in isolation among the cornfields in the rural farmlands of a backwater locale. Life, however, won't leave him alone. The narration of his dilemma is by turns reflective, humorous, outraged, pained, and philosophical. The cast includes a cross section of small town natives and recent arrivals, faculty and students at the local college, and authors who provide him with books to illustrate and endless frustration in his attempts to do so. He finds himself involved against his will with female entanglements, involuntary pets, and an amateur theatrical production. He constantly struggles to gain some control of his life and an understanding of its ironies. The narrative, filled with local color and leavened with humor, reaches into Adam’s mind and heart and yields a rich insight into an aspiring artist’s soul.
