There’s already been one death by the time the authorities ask Fin to go undercover to investigate a company that is creating extensive environmental damage to the ocean, threatening an octopus nursery, a shark mating area, and the endangered green turtles, all causes dear to her heart. How can she say no?
It’s not until she’s on site that she realizes she’ll have to work with Liam and the team from his environmental remediation company. Working together will be awkward, but Fin is determined to do everything she can to stop the damage.
Then things get worse. The crew from the construction company, Kraken Industries, harass her right from the start. Dane says he can't watch Penny as he'd promised, and he sends her to stay on the dangerous island with Fin.
Meanwhile, Fin uncovers pieces of an ancient chess set made of solid gold. Is Kraken after the chess set, or are they really building the resort they've claimed? Or is there something else going on?
Disregarding the danger to herself, Fin continues her investigation even after things turn deadly. Will she be able to bring the monsters to justice or will the danger of working undercover prove too much for her to handle on her own?
