Sobre este áudio
In a stunning opening to a sparking new series, Balewa Sample introduces Shango, God of Thunder. Taller, stronger, and braver than any man alive, Shango rules the tiny Pangean county of Abzu (on what is now the east coast of Africa). The citizens do his bidding because Lord Shango is not like any one they have ever experienced. He possesses uncanny strength and advanced fighting skills. Along with his brother Lord Ogun, Shango has hammered out a personal haven of wealth and pleasure.
No men oppose him. No women resist him. Until he meets Princess Nefertari. Determined to rule a country of fierce fighting women, the princess stands next in line to the throne of Abzu. Her only opposition is her brother, the arrogant but well-ensconced King Gamba.
Life in Abzu is peaceful until Lord Shango, an interloper who holds total control of the area for reasons no one quite comprehends, spies Nefertari at a party. The infatuation is instantaneous and incurable. Obstacles abound. Shango is prohibited from marrying anyone outside of his mysterious tribe. To make matter worse, Nefertari takes an occasion at a State dinner to announce to the Lord Shango, “You smell like a goat.”
Added to the mix is Mensa, a courageous soldier determined to guard the princess with his life, even after she announces her intention to marry the powerful Shango.
Abzu seems a peaceful place, but it is a land built on blood. Its history reveals a sordid progression of betrayal, treachery, and assassination. Almost no one is who he/she seems to be. Once you start listening and meet Dindaka, the wise, you will be hooked on this story of war, love, betrayal, and heartbreak.
