Sobre este áudio
Joining us at Audible Studios is Heather Morris, an author whose debut novel, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, was a huge success.
Morris grew up in New Zealand and has split her adult life between there and Australia. Morris worked in the Social Work Department at Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne from 1995-2017. During this time, Morris decided to pursue her love of storytelling and enrolled in a professional scriptwriting course.
In 2003, her life and career path changed. She was introduced to Lale Sokolov, upon whose story she based The Tattooist of Auschwitz.
The success of her debut novel was followed with questions from readers, desperate to know more about the character Cilka. Thus, Morris endeavoured to discover everything she could about Cilka, who the late Lale Sokolov admired with all his heart.
And Morris’ second novel, Cilka’s Journey, tells the story of her strength and hope in the most desperate of circumstances.
We spoke to Heather Morris about her second novel and how she went about her research, why she has chosen to base her novels on real people and what she plans to do next.
