Sinopse
Kelly Hopkins is ready to break away, from her small apartment, loneliness, and most important, her past. Struggling to cope with her parents’ double murder five years prior, she’s finally ready to leave her reality-TV-show-addicted grandmother and the tense reality of being half-white in Koreatown. Receiving a scholarship from Columbia University, it is time to achieve her dreams of becoming a successful lawyer. Nothing can break her steadfast focus - that is, until she meets Ian.
Rich, cultured, and white, 24-year-old Ian thinks he can get anything he wants - including her. Despite Kelly’s reservations, she finds herself longing to take a chance at happiness. The problem is the more Kelly falls for Ian, the more his meddling mother, Beverly, seeks to hurt her. Not content with humiliating Kelly publicly for being a “gold-digger”, the cruel matriarch puts increasingly outrageous demands on Kelly to prove she’s good enough for her son.
