Sinopse
For the men and women who spend their days in a high-tech corporate world, the constant need to adapt to change, innovation, and digital transformation has become an ongoing challenge that requires not only skill but also courage.
Starting her career as a software engineer, Luba Sakharuk is well aware of the fear of failure that can creep in when new opportunities arise. Over the years, she has faced moments of doubt and questioned her abilities, time and time again, as she progressed her career. As each new chance appeared on the horizon, her limiting beliefs would kick in like clockwork. Yet, each time, the doubt faded away, to be replaced, on reflection, with a story of learning, and often success.
Her experiences lead Luba to identify the FYAIL methodology—Facing Yet Another Important Lesson—where the fear of failure is replaced with the excitement of learning. As Luba and other leaders have experienced firsthand, adopting the FYAIL mindset reduces unnecessary stress, and provides the ideal platform for success, in digital transformation and so much more in life.
In this inspiring and thought-provoking book, Luba introduces her alter-ego Vita, who experiences a similar career path as well as the accompanying fears and doubts. Ten years into her career, she takes on a job that she doesn’t feel qualified for, and it completely changes the course of her life. The fear of failure is a constant, but each time, she proves to herself she can do it, building on her confidence and knowledge in the process. Through Vita’s story, we explore the seven most impactful topics in career and organizational change: limiting beliefs, resolving conflicts, achieving organizational alignment, leveraging resistance, measuring what matters, mastering accountability, and maximizing value delivered.
As Vita grows into her role, and replaces the fear of failing with the excitement of learning, her strength, personality and courage are apparent, and through her story, we gain valuable insights into the corporate world.
Although How to FYAIL in Digital Transformation does not solely focus on women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), it is a story about a woman who finds herself in a male-dominated corporate world. As she navigates through challenging interactions, Vita grows and develops her skills in many areas, becoming a highly competent and capable leader herself.
Throughout the book, there are valuable teachings and insights from the eight contributing authors, all women who as transformational leaders have explored the ideas of continuous learning, accountability, and organizational alignment to drive their growth and success.
With a master’s degree in computer science, Luba started her career as a software engineer with little confidence, but over the years, she has excelled. The unique insights and abilities she has gained over her career have led her to agile coaching, facilitation, leadership, and digital transformation. While working full-time as a senior lead consultant at Apex Systems, she founded RALM3 Consulting LLC, focusing on public speaking and facilitation. How to FYAIL in Digital Transformation is her second book, following on from her memoir Life Worth Living.
