Sinopse
In his autobiography, Robert Derby describes his journey of acceptance of himself as a gay man. Robert suffered gender-identity confusion from an early age, compounded by a misogynistic, sadistic father and a depressed, religious mother who thought he would be better off dead than be himself. He witnessed the harmful consequences of religion and lived through persecution and humiliation while serving in the military from the sodomy laws in the United States in the 1960s. Bravely, he bares his soul and sins to share a wholehearted experience of his survival from many of the human devastations and natural catastrophes of the twentieth century, including the sexual and drug revolution of the sixties, the Vietnam War, escaping AIDS, 911, Hurricane Katrina, and COVID-19.
Robert gives a recipe for survival, and his book gives inspiration and hope not only to the LGBTQ community, but also to all oppressed and discriminated peoples of the world. But most important it is a written history of laws in America that affect all of us, including people of all races, sex, and who they love.
