Sobre este áudio
Four Jack Tales from the Appalachian oral tradition, recorded by a nationally accalimed storyteller. In this collection, Jack has a little trouble adjusting to the workaday world and to personal financial management. Eventually he works hard enough, but his fortunes do not seem to parallel his productivity. Jack finally has to go a bit out of his way to prove himself, meanwhile dealing with a prospective father-in-law who plays hard to get.
For Adults and Young Adults.

Resumo editorial
Donald Davis recalls that, growing up in the North Carolina mountains, his grandmother told him about 50 different stories about Jack. Jack is a character whose roots can be traced back to old Cornish and English yarns and who frequently pops up in the folktales of Appalachia. Though curious and mischievous, Jack relies on his quick wits and good fortune, and somehow always comes out on top. Davis learned these stories in the traditional way, having them passed down to him by family. In this audiobook of "Jack’s First Job" he draws upon this experience to relate the story in the colloquial oral tradition of his youth. As the title suggests, here we find Jack working his very first job.
