Sobre este áudio
Mae Jemison is a woman who has worn many hats throughout her illustrious life. She has been a chemical engineer, dancer, social worker, medical doctor, writer, and choreographer. But perhaps, she is most well-known in her role as an astronaut. On September 12, 1992, Mae joined six other people aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour for the STS-47 mission. The mission was completed successfully, and Mae became the first-ever black woman to go to space. Her life both before and after her launch into space is one that is truly worth learning about and understanding. This book will explore what went on immediately before, during, and after the launch into space aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour. You will learn about Mae Jemison's values and philosophy on life, particularly the role of science and technology. You will learn about her upbringing and how life was growing up on the south side of inner-city Chicago. We will journey with Mae from Stanford and Cornell all the way to the remote locations of sub-Saharan Africa and a Cambodian refugee camp in Thailand.
History and science are available to everybody. The modern era is defined by unparalleled access to knowledge. Through understanding how things happen, and how things work, you are able to understand how to implement your own ideas. Success comes from a mixture of determination and experience. In this book, we explore Mae’s life because she is one of the giants of our time, a true role model for all.
