Dr. Megan Russo has a a secret, a secret no one can know. She is in love with a man she can not have. Megan is in love with one of her patients. Living a solitary life in the Idaho countryside, Lenny Harris, watched his wife Vicky, die from the ravages of breast cancer a few years earlier. Immersing himself into his work was the only way he knew to cope with her loss, and for a long time Lenny's work was his life.
Today Lenny has an appointment to see Megan. When ever Lenny was alone with her, he noticed a tension in the room but Lenny always blew it off, knowing that it would not be possible to have any kind of relationship with his Doctor.
As he walked to his car that sunny afternoon, Lenny sensed something seemed different today, as if something was about to happen, but little did he know that after this day, neither one of their lives would ever be the same. Through the pain and guilt, and the sorrow and regret, that will envelope Lenny and Megan's lives over the next ten years. The most unlikely events will lead them on a path back to one another.
