Sinopse
Since the pandemic, there is a huge shortage of OTR truck drivers; according to the latest estimate, the shortage is a little over 100,000 drivers. This shortage has created a never-seen-before disruption in the global supply chain. As we all know, if the demand is high and supply is low, the price (“Pay per mile,” in this case) goes up, basics economics of supply and demand.
If you want to start a recession-proof business and looking for more than just a career, this is your time to get into your own truck business. There has never been a better time in the history of the nation to launch an over-the-road trucking company. The need has never been greater, and the future has never been brighter. And, I should know. I’ve owned my trucking company for over a decade, and I’ve seen economic slumps as well as booms. One thing has been consistent through all of it: Truckers are always in demand.
When I began, I doubted whether the market could support a small operation like mine. While I had been an owner-operator and knew the driving portion of the business like the back of my hand, I had less experience operating a larger business. Many owner-operators continue driving while they add on employees. I did not. I wanted to focus completely on the business side, and I worked hard to ensure that my investment paid off.
I went from owning one truck in 2011 to owning a fleet of 10 today. As the firm grew, I slowly hired employees to perform many of the back-office duties I couldn’t find the time for. I used the blueprint I offer in this audiobook to accomplish my success.
Innovation is the operative word for the future of the trucking industry. As you step into your role of business owner, you’re fortunate enough to be able to envision the many opportunities the field of technology holds for you.
