Sobre este áudio
In it he describes his experiences during Sherman's March to the Sea and then through the Carolinas. The book is very well written for a joural and provides fascinating details of that march that couldonly be written by one who was there. In addition to describing the march itself, Nichols also interviewed many people along the way and tells about their conditions and their opinions. As a Union soldier, he makes no attempt to be objective, but once this is taken into account, his details and observations form a fascinating story.

The Story of the Great March is George Ward Nichols' diary while he acted as an aid to General William T. Sherman during the Civil War. It is a personal story of the war and an intimate look at Sherman. Performer Jim Roberts' pacing is particularly accomplished. He uses a varied rhythm to engage while he envelopes listeners in the vernacular of Nichols' day. His tone is professional and old-world. Civil War history buffs will certainly enjoy this historical and intimate audiobook.
