Sobre este áudio
When Is A Women’s Group Not A Women’s Group? It’s a good question.
We live in a world where trans lives are now mainstream and many forms of nonbinary and gender-diverse identities exist. This is also a world in which some people have some very strong views about how other people identify and how those people should be treated.
If you happen to be someone who is running - or is thinking of setting up - a group, programme or event for women (or for a specific group of people for whom gender may be a defining feature) then you need to have an understanding of some of these issues so that you can lead with integrity. This book will help you gain that understanding. This book is for you if you run (or are planning to run) spaces for specific groups of people and you’d like help in defining those spaces better so they can be more inclusive. It will help you to think about why you have set up your group, what needs it meets, and all the different people that might have that need that you could also help.
It contains examples - some real and some fictional - of groups that have been defined as women’s groups but that are not actually just for women. It explains why thinking about this stuff is important and what a negative impact it can have when you get it wrong. It will give you ideas of different words you could use to define your space that are inclusive and that empower all the people you want to empower to be active members of your community.
But most importantly it invites you to be part of these conversations and part of the movement towards a more evolved and inclusive society where gender does not divide us, but gives us all something to celebrate and connect through.
At just 41 minutes of run time, this book is a quick listen, short enough to consume in one sitting but packed with enough information and inspiration to give you the confidence to be radically inclusive as you move through the world
