Sobre este áudio
Wicca is a Western neo-pagan religion, which empowers and surrounds itself with worshiping of nature.
The Wiccan religion became one of the most widely followed and popular religions in the mid twentieth century. A large portion of this credit is owed to Gerald Gardner, who associated this religion with witchcraft and attracted an enormous amount of followers.
One of the main philosophies of the Wiccan nature is that everyone live in peace and harmony with nature, without any trouble. They based this philosophy upon grounds that reasoned as follows: humans are a part of nature and can only survive if they coexist peacefully with its might. Wicca also encourages worship of women. This is due to their fascination with the mother goddess.
This feminine principle is considered to be a fundamental value among Wiccans and respected equally by men and their women counterparts. It was believed that women Wiccans are strong and independent, mutually agreed upon by the male Wiccan community, as well.
While traditionally, Wiccan texts and instructions paid more attention to the mother goddess, and as a result to women, modern religions and texts molded themselves to favor equality among the god and the goddess, which translates to the divine feminine and masculine.
Wicca is packed as a religion which traditionally comprises of mystery, witchcraft, natural and ceremonial magic. Another one of the philosophies practiced by Wiccan men and women is the equal worshiping of the goddess and the horned god, which represents the dual nature of the universe (male-female, earth-sky, and so on).
The Wiccan religion was hailed as one of the most popular religions in the mid-20th century. With its inclination toward equality and witchcraft, it gained a lot of movement and traction and attracted a large amount of followers. However, as Christianity developed, Wicca, like many other pagan religions, was persecuted.
As inquisitions were carried out, witches were captured ruthlessly and burned upon huge bonfires. The traditions that kept the Wiccan flame alive were uprooted and discarded as Christianity expanded all over the globe. For instance, goddess Brigita, the goddess of fire, was hailed as one of their saints by Christianity, claiming that she was the midwife of the Virgin Mary.
However, the flames of witchcraft and other Wiccan traditions could never be removed entirely as it is gaining a considerable amount of popularity among the young generation today. The magic associated with this ancient religion fascinates many young people around the world today.
