Sobre este áudio
Rose McConnell isn’t happy. Walking home to find your fiancé in bed with someone else is enough of a blow to any girl. Broken and completely lost, she has no idea what to do. Her parents died years ago and the aunt who raised her passed away just a year ago. She has no money, no relationships, and nowhere to go. And then it changes. A lawyer arrives and she discovers her aunt’s ex-husband, the uncle she never met, passed away as well. He’s left his ranch in Texas to Rose. With nowhere else to go, the city girl heads to cowboy country. Andy “Wildcat” Turner isn’t happy about Rose’s arrival. Her uncle was like a father to him and he always expected he’d inherit the ranch. Worse, she’s a city girl with no idea about raising cattle. He doesn’t need to deal with an unproven, prissy, fashion conscious girl when there’s a ranch to save.
Save. That’s the key. Andy knows something Rose doesn’t. There’s oil on the property and men who’ll stop at nothing to get it. All in all, his loyalty to Barret “Razor” McConnell means he can’t just cut and run. Further, he knows a secret. Razor wasn’t Rose’s blood uncle. He was a shifter, a bobcat shifter just like Wildcat.
Wildcat can’t imagine having a chance with Rose in the best of circumstances. How can he deal with how he feels when his entire way of life might be threatened?
Here’s a peek:
My hearing came into focus first and I heard the screen door in the kitchen slam and my heart jumped for the exit. I pushed away from Wildcat and instantly felt paranoia take over. I scrambled to gather my clothes and run for the bathroom or any room where I could lock a door and get dressed and try desperately to pull myself together. Jesus, what the fuck was I thinking letting this happen? Of course, very little thinking seemed to have entered into the whole thing but still. My God, I was trying to make a new life for myself, really make this ranch something I could make a valuable piece of my future and I was busy banging the lead ranch hand within minutes of saying hello.
I raced into a room and shut the door. I heard Wildcat call after me but I turned the lock and then, began pulling on clothes and straightening myself up. I didn't notice my surroundings until I was mostly decent again and then, I looked and saw pictures on a dresser and some comic books and a laptop open with a screen saver that showed Wildcat and Bark on either side of a very proud Timothy holding up a prize ribbon. Oh God, I couldn't think of anything that might sink me lower in that moment.
