  • The Virgin and the Whore: Healing the Divide
    Aug 28 2024

For thousands of years, women have been cast into one of two roles: the virgin or the whore.

Most people see them as polar opposites, as two parts that could never be one. On one side is a woman who is “marriage material.” On the other side, a seductress who elicits fantasy and desire but lives outside the bounds of respectable society.

But in this episode, we’re going to illuminate the truth – we are both of these all at once, and so much more.

Tune in for a history lesson in the virgin and the whore and find out which parts of the story have been left out.

Listen to this episode to hear about:

    • The root of the words, “virgin” and “whore” and what they tell us about women’s sexual power
    • Steps people can make to heal the divide and embrace a full range of sexual expression
    • Our personal experiences with being labeled one or the other, and how we broke out of those one-dimensional cages
    • Why the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene were both misunderstood in their expression of the virgin and whore archetypes
    • Different types of experiences that people can attend to expand their expression of sexuality and embrace more of their wholeness, including our own Worshipper erotic ritual theatre (our next show is on October 19 and will cover the story of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and the Virgin Mary)

  • The Emerging Man: Exploring Men’s Work and Emotional (un)Availability with Vern Petty
    Jun 13 2024

What does it mean to be a man these days? As gender roles are being restructured and explored, the emerging field of men’s work offers a rich landscape of ways to explore a new, healthier expression of masculinity.

Our guest for this episode is Vern Petty, a somatic therapist and men’s work facilitator. He shares with us his personal journey to finding men’s work and how it has helped him heal his wounds and guide men to realize their greatest potential.

Our conversation is laced with vulnerable shares about dating, breakups, and how we’ve learned to work with the emotional spectrum within relationships. We tackle the question of what it means to be emotionally available, and how we can do the work to become more attuned both to our own needs and our partners’.

We also hear about Vern’s experience with conscious uncoupling, a process he recently underwent to honour his ex-partner and heal his heartbreak by sealing the ending of a partnership with a story of gratitude and growth.

Listen in to explore what men like Vern are gaining from men’s work and why it matters. We explore topics that include:

    • What it means to show up in truth at the beginning, middle, and end of a relationship
    • The need for men to find spaces to align and direct toward purpose
    • What men and women can do to deepen hetero romantic relationships and platonic friendships
    • Sexual energy cultivation (beyond simple semen retention)
    • What emotional availability actually is

Anyone who loves men – or is a man – owes it to themselves to explore what is happening in the field of men’s work.
