Auto stocks are being hit hard as they play a key role in the automobile supply chains. Canada has already hit back with tariff on U.S goods, Mexico and China have indicated that they will soon be reacting to Trumps tariff action. After the bell today watch for earnings from PLTR, NXPI, CLX & RMBS. The key economic report today is the ISM Manufacturing PMI due out after the opening bell. European markets are falling as Trump indicated that he is planning tariffs on the EU. Oil prices are gaining ahead of this morning announcement and indications that a production hike is not imminent.

Next week we have earnings reports from PLTR, PFE PEP MRK, AMGN, AMD, GOOG, DIS UBER QCOM BABA HON & AMZN. President Trump is expected to announce tariffs on Canada and Mexico tomorrow. Commodity-related stocks are in focus today. Before the opening bell today, the personal-consumption expenditures price index is due out. European markets are slightly higher and oil prices are slightly lower.

Fed indicates that they are in no rush to cut rates and remains data dependent, a march cut appears unlikely at this time. GDP & Jobless Claims reports are the key economic reports for this morning. Banks, Semis and retail sectors are displaying positive action in the pre-market. European markets are higher ahead of this morning ECB announcement and oil prices are climbing moving from red to green.

Powell press conference will likely create some volatility. The White House said Tuesday that President Trump still plans to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico on Saturday. Drug sector on watch as the RFK jr nomination hearings are underway. European markets are mainly higher this morning and oil prices are off by -0.75%.

On the earnings from RCL & GM are higher, BA, RTX & LMT reports are still pending. FOMC meeting starts today with an announcement tomorrow morning. DeepSeek, a Chinese AI start up is said to have a large language model which is highly comparable to OpenAI model, but uses lower end chips. Trumps threat of 25% tariffs on Columbia is no longer in play as Columbia agrees to take back repatriated migrants. There are two key central bank meetings this week (FOMC & ECB). Host of big earnings this week, tomorrow morning BA, JBLU, LMT & RTX are set to report. European shares are lower, yet some sectors are positive. Oil prices are slightly lower this morning -0.30%.

    S&P Futures are trading slightly lower this morning due to weakness in semiconductors. Markets are questioning the numbers and the timing of the recently announced Stargate Project. Key event today will be President Trump's speech today at Davos summit. Trump is schedule to speat at 11:00 am ET. His interview last night was rather uneventful as the focus was on his issues with former president Biden and FEMA. Central Bank meetings are on watch, the BOJ will make an announcement tomorrow, FOMC announcement on Jan 29th, and the ECB announcement is scheduled for Jan 30th. Earnings beats came in from ALK, DFS, GE, and MKC. After the bell today TXN and ISRG will report, and tomorrow morning AXP & VZ will report. European shares are mixed to higher & oil prices are higher by +0.50% this morning.
