  • Ep. 160 Dance Floor: Social vs. Competitive Dancing
    Mar 9 2026

Social dancers often say social dancing will make you a better ballroom dancer. But is that actually true—or is competition the faster path to improvement?

In this week’s episode The Dancing Housewife explores the cultural divide between social dancers and competitive dancers and why this conversation often sparks strong opinions. Social dancing strengthens lead-and-follow adaptability, connection, and floorcraft. Competition, on the other hand, emphasizes technical precision, performance quality, and the ability to dance under pressure while being evaluated.

Interestingly, the advice often flows one direction: social dancers frequently feel compelled to encourage competitors to social dance, but rarely the other way around. So why is that?

Tune in as The Dancing Housewife busts the myth that competition is simply about proving yourself and instead frames it as a powerful testing ground and feedback loop that can accelerate improvement.

Ultimately, both paths are valid. The real question is: What kind of dancer do you want to become?

  • Ep. 158 Monthly Mailbag: Declining and Invitation to Dance Gracefully
    Mar 2 2026

It's Mailbag time again and this month The Dancing Housewife tackles a listener-submitted question question about whether it’s ever acceptable to refuse an invitation to dance in social dance circles where turning someone down is frowned upon. She explains that while inclusivity is valued, dancers may have many valid reasons for declining—such as hygiene issues, unsafe or rough leading, rudeness, or personality mismatch—and that no one is obligated to disclose why. Sharing a personal story from a gala, she demonstrates a direct boundary and offers a simple script: “Thank you so much, but I’m sitting this one out,” with no explanations.

  • Ep. 158 Midlife Metabolism: You're Not Broken, You're Hormonal!
    Feb 23 2026

    Scale Stalled? You’re Not Broken.

In this episode of The Dancing Housewife Podcast, I break down why fat loss after 40 — especially post-menopause — requires a smarter strategy, not more hustle.

If you’re lifting, walking, eating high protein/low carb, and the scale still won’t budge, your metabolism didn’t “break.” Early low-carb drops are mostly water from depleted glycogen. Real fat loss is slower — and strength training inflammation, hormone shifts, and water retention can easily mask progress.

We talk about what actually changes after menopause: lower estrogen, altered insulin sensitivity, higher stress sensitivity, and why cortisol, recovery, and sleep matter more than ever. Working harder can backfire when your body feels stressed.

You’ll learn my menopause-smart reset and what not to do.
