Amanda Testini joins the podcast to share her stories and experience as a first time film director while working at the Banff Arts Centre's Opera in the 21st Century Program.  Amanda Testini (she/her) is a performer, choreographer and director based on the unceded and ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. She has worked for the Arts Club, Bard on the Beach, the Cultch, Theatre Replacement, the Firehall, Vancouver Opera, the Belfry, Opera Kelowna, the Gateway, Savage Society, VACT, Carousel Theatre, shameless hussy productions, Electric Theatre Company and Axis Theatre. Amanda is a Jessie Award nominee, and a graduate of both the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts Triple Threat Program and Studio 58's Acting Program. Most recently she was a director in residence of the Yulanda M. Faris Young Artists Program.     Inspired podcasts on the road continues! The immensely talented and innovative librettist and lyricist Royce Vavrek joins us to share his journey. Royce is a Canada-born, Brooklyn-based librettist and lyricist who has been called “the indie Hofmannsthal” (The New Yorker) a “Metastasio of the downtown opera scene” (The Washington Post), “an exemplary creator of operatic prose” (The New York Times), and “one of the most celebrated and sought after librettists in the world” (CBC Radio).  His opera “Angel’s Bone” with composer Du Yun was awarded the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Music.  We had the pleasure of working with Royce at the Banff Arts Center while creating a new film adaptation of his new opera, Proving Up. From baseball teams, to operatic premieres Sweden, Royce shares his journey and inspiration as a creative librettist.  Grab a drink, and join us for the latest road episode of Studio 29!
