Sobre este áudio
Before we begin the dive into purpose, let’s talk about what purpose is. This is one of those words that gets thrown around a lot and people embark on a long quest for it yet I wonder if individuals really stop to reflect on what they are actually seeking.
Purpose is defined as the reason for which something exists or for which something is done. When we seek purpose, we are essentially seeking two things.
- Why am I here?
- What do I plan to do with my time?
Without answering these two questions, one could spend their entire life dazed and confused as they navigate life like an ameba, moving away from things that are toxic or painful and towards things that seem to be pleasurable or fun. The problem is even when things start off as fun they can morph into something else over time.
Just think about your relationships when they were shiny and new and you were deeply in love, compared to a time when that same person began irritating you like sand paper. Compare the difference between your first days on a job compared to your 500th day. Very different experiences!
Our emotions are very much like waves. They ebb and flow and change from day to day, week to week and month to month. If we only rely on how we are feeling, we will have a very difficult time committing to one path because our inner realm is constantly fluctuating.
Ideally, we want to build a solid foundation that provides structure and is a holding container for all of those emotional variations yet allows for continuity of our deeper soulful expression. This is where purpose comes in.
