The best of plans are made to be disrupted. Yokïmi Kikuchi discovers this in a difficult way as she receives a frantic message from her Farrum, the man who took her in when she was at her lowest point following her brother's betrayal. She owes it to him to answer his call. But his final words haunt her. "I'm sorry." What could that mean? It tells her only that whatever she is going to find, the truth will not be simple. She ventures forth from her new home in the Sanctuary earlier than she anticipated, focused on finding the truth and to seek justice for him.

Having gotten clear of the country determined to exterminate his kind, Yynnc sets his sights on creating a new life for himself in the magnificent city of Grayshoal. While there are dangers, opportunities abound for a kobold trying to carve out a new and exciting life for himself. The problem is that trouble is determined to find him in return. Whether by happenstance or from his own insatiable curiosity, it seems wherever he sticks his nose in, all he finds is a nest of hornets. He soon finds himself entangled in matters he probably should have left alone.

Yokïmi Kikuchi dwelled in what she perceived to be harmony with her family. Her twin brother's madness changed everything. Twisted by his hate and magic beyond his control, he unleashes a violent cataclysm that destroys the family and the castle in which they lived. By chaotic chance, Yokïmi survived, but found herself forever changed. Robbed of everything, she flees from the site of that disaster. But though she survived, terrible Curses have latched onto her. Their effects threaten to ruin her life forever, leaving her no choice but to contemplate Quests to see them removed.

Like most kobolds, Yynnc has learned his lot in life. He'll find peace where he can while being very much aware of how fragile his existence can be in a world filled with creatures and beings more powerful than he. He's happy enough to embrace the life of a fisherman bringing food in for his warren, and live in peace as long as he can.
