A short collection of poems of various lengths and styles, all with one thing in common: they were written for - or about - some of the various pets my hubby and I have had. The poems in this collection are mainly about chinchillas and dogs, though other types of animals – in particular degus - sometimes make an appearance too. All poems are captioned with details of the pets they were written for or about.

After losing his best friend, Arth, Tedi is so sad it feels like his heart is torn up inside of him. Now Tedi just sits by the window and cries, no longer caring about anything but how much he misses his friend, and seeing nothing of the beauty outside. Mama Bear insists things will get easier in time, but Tedi’s not so sure; Tedi believes he’ll never be happy again. And, as summer turns to autumn, and then autumn turns to winter, it’s starting to look like Tedi might be right. But is Tedi really right, or is it Mama Bear who’s right after all?

When Snowlilie the West Highland white terrier first meets her new little brother - a Cavapoo puppy, who tells her the humans call him Rascal - and realizes having a little brother means having a new doggy friend to play with, she’s excited. That is, until she realizes it also means sharing everything with him - including her favorite ball, some of her food, and Mummy and Daddy’s attention.

Snowball is a white kobold, something so rare that the other kobolds in his tribe won’t accept him as a proper kobold. In fact, they delight in making poor Snowball’s life miserable. Jinx's little sister, Ayla, has warned him time and time again that one day his mischief-making will get him in to serious trouble. But Jinx isn't interested in his sister's warnings; not even when the trouble she warns him about is a cave full of goblins. Like most pixies, Jinx loves to play tricks and explore. But, unlike most pixies, Jinx takes his tricks too far on a regular basis, causing chaos and taking risks that no other pixie would even consider, much to the amusement of his faerie dragon friends, Caia and Draco, and the annoyance of just about everyone else.

Brownies share the woods with the fairies, but - unlike the fairies - the brownies are very naughty. They love playing tricks, love stealing anything travelers happen to be carrying through the woods, and love getting people lost. So when one of them spots Ella carrying a basket of goodies, he just can’t resist trying to steal them from her.
