He was a Bangladeshi author, dramatist, screenwriter, playwright, and filmmaker. Humayun Ahmed was the most famous and popular author, dramatist and filmmaker ever to grace the cultural world of Bangladesh since its independence in 1971. Dawn referred to him as the cultural legend of Bangladesh. Humayun started his journey to reach fame with the publication of his novel Nondito Noroke (In Blissful Hell) in 1972, which remains one of his most famous works.

Humayun Ahmed has represented Himu to us with Moyurakkhi [Peacock]. Hearing the name of Himu, our eyes imagine a young bear-footed man wearing a yellow Panjabi with a large beard and three betel-colored teeth. The full name of Himu is Himalaya. Himu has a river of the imagination whose name is Moyurakkhi.

Humayun Ahmed wrote: "Himu is one of my favorite characters. When I write something about Himu - I feel like Himu, feel a bit thick. This thing does not happen at the time of any other writing.
